Julian Gaskell & his Ragged Trousered Philanthropists

Falmouth’s very own Julian Gaskell & his Ragged Trousered Philanthropists return to the Bank for a concert to celebrate the long-awaited release of their album Broadside Bangers on Kroustpop! Records.  The album is something of a return to Gaskell’s garage-punk roots, taking an expertly curated selection of 19th century printed ballads from their unloved music-hall obscurity into new and disturbing musical depths using folk instruments and gravelly vocals along with layers of distortion, electronic trickery and a rusty collection of spring reverbs. Full of brutal tales of death, cats, apples, burials, trains, boats, poltergeists and revenge, this album definitively sets out the broadside vision that Gaskell has been banging on about for many years.

The live Ragged Trousered Philanthropists consist of Gaskell on vocals, accordion, guitars and stompbox, Cally Gibson on violin and Thomas Sharpe on banjo, bouzouki and bass.  Expect to hear choice ballads from the new release as well as a selection of old and new rabble-rousers, this album launch party will be an unforgettable apocalyptic hoe-down.

Featuring special guests TBC.
