The Cornish Bank Comedy Club: Mike Wozniak

DOORS AT 7PM, SHOW BEGINS AT 8PM. UNRESERVED SEATING.

Taskmaster star Mike Wozniak headlines a summer edition of Cornwall's best value comedy club with four performers on the bill. He's joined by comic harpist Scarlett Smith, resident host Mimi, and Mel Owen who was recently tour support for Kiri Pritchard-Mclean.

Mike Wozniak

Mike Wozniak is a comedian and writer best known for playing Brian in Man Down (Channel 4) and as one of the contestants on series 11 of Taskmaster (Channel 4), after which life was never quite the same.

Writing credits include series three and four of Man Down, all four series of Small Scenes (BBC Radio 4) and a one-off physical comedy for Sky Arts entitled Ruby Robinson which starred Kim Cattrall alongside a troupe of acrobats from across Europe. He also wrote and directed the short film Sump, starring Gemma Whelan, Daniel Rigby and Jeany Spark, which was selected in competition for numerous film festivals around the world including Palm Springs International Film Festival, PÖFF Estonia and Calgary International Film Festival and which won a clutch of awards including the Special Jury Prize at the Amsterdam Film Festival.

Other TV credits include Would I Lie To You (BBC One), We Are Not Alone (Dave), Horrible Histories (CBBC), It’s Kevin (BBC Two) and many more. Film credits include Prevenge and Timestalker (both directed by Alice Lowe).

As a stand-up Mike has been a comedy festival regular for many years and has penned numerous solo shows. His debut, eponymous stand-up show was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2008 and in 2013 his show Take The Hit was nominated for Best Show. Most recently he took his one-man show Zusa on a sell-out tour across the UK and Ireland.

Mel Owen

Mel Owen, dubbed “unapologetically cheeky” (The Live Review), “obviously multi talented” (Ed Fringe Review) and “one to watch” (The Scotsman), is an award-winning comedian with multiple competition wins and a sell-out Edinburgh Fringe run under her belt. She has performed at the Netflix Is A Joke festival (Los Angeles), with critics pinning her as “a fiery, unforgettable performer”. Mel spent 2024 as tour support for Welsh comedy icons Kiri Pritchard-McLean and Elis James. Mel has script writing credits on Netflix, Radio 4, BBC One and Channel 4.

Scarlett Smith

Scarlett Smith is an electroacoustic harpist and comedian. Tired of the harp’s demure, classical reputation, Scarlett is on a mission to prove this instrument belongs far beyond the orchestra pit. Expect wedding industry musings, a fateful boat trip, and fast-paced punchlines in her world where heartfelt meets hilarious.  5*(Theatre in Brighton)

Mimi

Your host is Mimi who won Cornwall Comedian of the Year 2022 on just her third gig. She discovered she loves making people smile, so she kept going. With her ukulele, she mixes her ditties with stand-up, sharing sharp but playful observations. Expect charm, whimsy, and possibly a singalong you weren’t prepared for.
