Hailing from Atlanta, USA, Gringo Star fast became arbitors of their sound in the Atlanta scene, next to the likes The Black Lips. They carry a similar sound to the likes of their contemperies from the West Coast such as Ty Segall, Jacuzzi Boys, King Khan & The Shrines. It's a sound steeped in that garage rocks sensability with a delightful sprinkling of psychedlia doused on top, making Gringo Star a real rare treat.
Forming in 2006 the band has gone stride to stride with 7 LP's releases since, countless tours, and praise from the music press across the globe. As you can imagine, these Atlantians (maybe from the mythical city) have never ventured down south, certianly not to the ancient depths of Cornwall. UNTIL NOW.
We are incredibly pleased to be bringing Gringo Star to Cornwall for their debut show and cannot wait to get lost in the rythms with you.
FFO: The Yardbirds, Ty Segall, Mikal Cronin, Black Lips, The Kinks.
Previous praise:
"this amiable Atlanta quartet borrow the keenly stacked harmonies and unpolished yet precise pop licks of the Beatles' Cavern Club days, but their newfound psychedelic, meandering impulses nudge them closer to the Kinks and Yardbirds than to the Fabs; the viola cries and distended tango pulse of Esmarelda may have fit on Village Green Preservation Society." - Rolling Stone
“Mixing one part punk rock ethic, one part manic performance and a heavy dose of 1950’s Americana...Images ofold Western shootouts, drunken nights in saloons and frantic pianos were all over the place while they played.” - Consequence Of Sound
“Vintage soul and garage rock, but with a definite ear for pop songwriting.” – Brooklyn Vegan
“[Gringo Star] seem to have an endless supply of a knotty, steaming riffs at their disposal. They’ve been churning out feverish garage rock tunes since 2008’s rowdy All Y’all, continuing to up the ante since.” – KEXP
