Oisín Leech

BBC 6 Album Of The Year - Cold Sea by Oisin Leech

“Oisin’s solo debut Cold Sea has more depth than one can imagine.…it showcases his natural gifts for blending solitary sensibilities with welcoming affection brimming with just the levels of light and shade.” Best of 2024 So Far – The Irish Times.

Oisin Leech's debut solo album "Cold Sea" emerges from an old schoolhouse beside Trawbreaga Bay, Donegal. After seven albums with The Lost Brothers, Leech crafted these songs in pandemic solitude, drawing inspiration from Seamus Heaney's poetry and the healing power of the ocean.

Produced by Steve Gunn and featuring Tony Garnier (Bob Dylan's bassist), M. Ward, and Irish folk legend Dónal Lunny, the album captures the warmth and atmosphere of its coastal birthplace. This serendipitous collaboration brought together musicians exploring their Irish roots, recording with vintage gear in a converted schoolhouse.

Expect an intimate evening of carefully crafted songs that map the landscape of Northern Ireland through poetic storytelling. With his woollen blanket vocals and distinctive open-tuned guitar work, Leech creates vivid musical vignettes that trace personal histories against the backdrop of Donegal's rugged coastline.
